本種は日本に広く分布し、様々な植物の花に普通に見られる。その他、世界の熱帯から亜熱帯に広く分布する。メスの体色は一様に褐色から頭胸部が淡色まで様々だが、オスは一様に淡色。

This species is widespread in Japan and it is common in the flowers of many plant families. It is also widely distributed in the tropical and subtropical regions in the world. The body colour is various from largely dark to paler in the head and thorax in the female but uniformly pale in the male.
